Receiving the Presidential Award is an overwhelming honor, as well as an opportunity to recognize the many teachers, administrators and students who have formed me as a teacher. I am especially thankful to my students for continuing to teach me the precious value of awakening joy and creativity in the learner and for challenging me to bring out their best. This honor validates what a privilege it is to be part of a profession devoted to helping young people develop and reach their potential.
