Winning the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching is a highlight of my teaching career. I am filled with a tremendous sense of pride and accomplishment. The Presidential Award is an affirmation of my teaching pedagogy and desire to teach students about the world of science with hands-on explorations. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to represent the State of Oklahoma and Edmond Public School District as the 2008 science winner.

Through Adopt-A-Pilot, Mrs. Doane's class participated in a national contest that involved filming a video about future careers and assembling a career portfolio. Her students received nationwide "top 10" recognition from Southwest Airlines for their entries twice in three years. Mrs. Doane is the Oklahoma Education Association representative for her school. In her professional development activities, she has a particular interest in teaching students with cognitive disabilities.
