Sharla Dowding, Ed.D., is currently Director of Field Experiences at Black Hills State University. Sharla taught high school science for 26 years before serving as the Wyoming Department of Education science consultant for two years. She was teaching at Newcastle High School when she received her PAEMST award in 2000. Sharla has taught every science class at the high school level and also served for ten years as a regional science fair coordinator and past president of the Wyoming Science Teaching Association. As a member of the National Science Teachers Association, Sharla has served as District XV Director, a delegate to the National Congress on Science Education, and as Nominations Chair and on several NSTA committees and judging panels. Sharla received National Board Certification in 2007 and 2017. She has been a member of the Wyoming Science Teachers Association since 1998. Serving as both a National Geographic and NASA education ambassador, Sharla has presented sessions for teachers at several state, regional, and national conferences. Sharla earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Chadron State College, doctoral degree from the University of Montana, and administrative certification from the University of Wyoming.
