Robyn Morris Crestwood, KY | 7-12, Mathematics, 2013

Robyn Morris has taught 7th grade Math and Social Studies at East Oldham Middle School for the past nine years. She spent the previous 11 years teaching middle school Math and Social Studies at South Oldham Middle, Oldham County Middle, and St. Edward School. In her class, Robyn concentrates on the workshop model, where students have a mini-lesson, group work time, and reflection time. Additionally, throughout the unit, students are given engaging tasks, asking them to transfer their learning to new situations. Robyn has served as a school math department chair. At the district level, she was a member of the Oldham County Schools Math Committee that developed and implemented the Common Core curriculum in the district. At the state level, she was on the Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative Math Leadership Network to aid in the implementation of the Common Core in Kentucky. She has served as a math lab classroom teacher for the Public Education Business Coalition Thinking Strategies Institute at the school, district and state level. She has also presented sessions at the state and district level on teaming and Common Core implementation.  Robyn received a B.S. in business administration and a M.A.T., both from the University of Louisville. She also earned her National Board Certification in early adolescence mathematics. She is certified in middle school mathematics and social studies.
