The Presidential Award represents the highest of honors a math or science teacher may receive. It acknowledges the highly reflective nature of teaching, the unwavering dedication to serving students, and the desire to never stop learning. None of this can be achieved in isolation, so the Presidential Award also serves to award the years of collaborative work with my colleagues, the enthusiasm of my students, and the support from my family. None of this would have been possible without them.

Scott Johnson Bismarck, ND | 7-12, Science, 2013

The official biography below was current at the time of the award.

Scott Johnson has been an educator for 19 years. He has spent the last 16 of those years teaching chemistry, as well as anatomy and physiology at Century High School in Bismarck, ND. He is the department chair at Century High and is involved in many levels of curriculum development on committees at the district level. Students are encouraged to never stop dreaming and to continue honing the skills to make those dreams a reality. Scott has a B.A. in science education from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and a M.S. in education from the University of North Dakota.
