Amy Falcone taught fourth grade in Westside Community Schools for 14 years. She most recently taught at Swanson Elementary School; prior to this she taught at Hillside Elementary School. Amy knew the importance of personalizing education for students and strived to find different ways for her students to engage in mathematics. She used a Math Workshop format in her classroom, which allowed students to work in a collaborative environment and engage in hands-on activities. Amy was then able to use a variety of instructional strategies and techniques to best meet the needs of all learners through her Guided Math groups.
Amy has led several professional development sessions for her district focused on Math Workshop and created Make-'n’-Take Workshops for teachers to attend in the summer. Amy led a semester-long professional development activity at Hillside Elementary School to support all teachers in implementing Guided Math in their classroom.
Amy has a B.S., summa cum laude, in elementary education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a M.S. in curriculum and instruction from Doane College, and she recently received her certificate in educational leadership from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She is a certified elementary school teacher.
