Ashley Kasnicka has been an elementary school teacher for 11 years, 10 of which have been at Harvey Jones Elementary School. She is currently an Instructional Facilitator, and previous taught second, fourth, and fifth grades.
Ashley supports the Common Core State Standards and the Standards for Mathematical Practice. Her implementation of daily problem-solving mathematics activities, and classroom discussions about mathematics brings to light the Standards for Mathematical Practice for her students. She is constantly researching and trying new things to benefit her students.
Videos of Ashley's teaching are used for training on Arkansas' Internet Delivered Education for Arkansas Schools (IDEAS) website. She opens her classroom to observers locally and across the nation and writes about mathematics on their school's blog. She also published an article, “Decimals: Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff," in the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics' fall 2014 newsletter.
She obtained National Board Certification in Literacy; the reflective and in-depth process affected all areas of her teaching by making her more reflective and methodical in her planning.
Ashley has a B.A., magna cum laude, in elementary education from Louisiana Tech University and a M.S in education from Arkansas State University. She is certified to teach early childhood through early adolescent years.
