The Presidential Award has given me the opportunity to reflect on my teaching practices and articulate clearly my beliefs about mathematics education. While achieving this award would be an honor, it is the process of applying that has been most meaningful to me. I hope that my love of mathematics and passion for teaching have inspired the students and teachers with whom I have worked, and that they will approach math with increased enthusiasm, confidence, and curiosity.

Since 2010, Josh has led Springhurst Elementary's implementation of Lesson Study, a collaborative professional development model originating in Japan. He was selected to attend the Lesson Study Immersion Program (through Tokyo Gakugei University) in 2012. In July 2013, Josh presented at the Staff Development for Educators' Singapore Math Strategies conference and Worcester State College's annual Singapore Math conference. Josh has a B.S in English from Syracuse University and an M.S.Ed. from Bank Street College, where he was a member of the Leadership in Mathematics Education program's graduating class of 2002.
