Sandra Trevino has been a mathematics teacher at Buena High School in the Sierra Vista Unified School District for more than 27 years. She teaches Advanced Placement Calculus and Precalculus/Trigonometry to students in grades 10-12, and she is a mentor and instructional coach.
Sandra served on the Arizona State Mathematics Standards and ACHIEVE American Diploma Project revision committees. She is an executive board member of the Arizona Association of Teachers of Mathematics and assists in professional development sessions and the sixth grade mathematics challenge.
Sandra sponsors two philanthropic organizations at Buena High School. The Denominators mathematics club offers a Family Math Night open to the community to encourage mathematical literacy, tutors elementary school children in mathematics, and provides an opportunity to attend an annual Calculus Camp. The Reading is Fundamental club donates and reads books to first grade students three times per year to help promote literacy.
Sandra has a B.S. in Education from the University of Arizona and an M.A. from Chapman University. She is National Board Certified in adolescence and young adult mathematics and a participant in the American Council Teacher to Teacher Program in Russia.
