We are all beneficiaries of many individuals' experiences, love of life, passion for learning, and loving care, without which we would not have achieved. The Presidential Award represents their sacrifice, dedication, and moral devotion to preserving intelligence. Most importantly, the Presidential Award represents the infinite debt that is owed to educators who recognize that children are our most cherished natural resource.

Chad Sharpe Casper, WY | 7-12, Science, 2011

Chad Sharpe has been an educator for 8 years and has spent the entire time teaching physics at Kelly Walsh High School in the Natrona County School District.  Chad's love of teaching was cultivated at the Boys and Girls Club, continued in college with the founding of the University of Wyoming AstroCamp, and was realized as a physics teacher, robotics coach, mentor, volunteer, and trebuchet enthusiast.  Chad has been an advocate and mentor for Science Bowl, Science Olympiad, and FIRST Robotics, resulting in regional and state championships. He helped found and has written curriculum for University of Wyoming's AstroCamp and the Bernard Harris Exxon Mobile Summer Science Camp, providing students with a free and unique summer science experience. Chad spent hundreds of hours outside of the regular school day with students to build trebuchets that launch bowling balls 300 feet. Chad is working on transforming education in the Natrona County School District by acting as an Academy Coach for the Academy of Architecture, Construction, Manufacturing, and Engineering.   Chad has a B.A. in science education from the University of Wyoming and an M.Ed. from Lesley University. He also has a Principal's Endorsement Certificate from the University of Wyoming. He is a certified grades 6-12 teacher.
