The Presidential Award is emblematic of my desire to continue to pass my passion for mathematics to new generations of students. I would like to thank my students, their families, and my colleagues who always motivate me to keep improving my mathematics instruction. The Presidential Award is a testament to the many outstanding colleagues who have shaped my instruction over the past several years, and is a commitment to my students and community that I will always strive to excel in my teaching.

Patricia Agee-Aguayo Green Bay, WI | K-6, Mathematics, 2010

Patricia Agee-Aguayo has taught at Danz Elementary School for 17 years, most recently teaching in a dual-language (English/Spanish) program. Patricia also taught secondary-level mathematics in Chile for 7 years. Patricia enjoys teaching practical applications of mathematics to her students, and she encourages her students to use a variety of strategies to solve problems. Patricia is the Math Content Leader for the primary grades in her school, functioning as the liaison between the school district's mathematics curriculum coordinator and the classroom teachers in her building. Patricia has participated in writing the curriculum for mathematics instruction for early elementary grade levels and has also assisted in developing courses for middle and high school English as a second language (ESL)/bilingual students with large gaps in mathematics in the Green Bay School District. Patricia has a B.S. in secondary mathematics education from the Universidad de Concepcion, Chile. Patricia also studied at St. Norbert College and has an M.S. in education (curriculum and instruction) from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Patricia is certified in regular and bilingual secondary mathematics education, regular and bilingual elementary education, and ESL for all grade levels.
