What a privilege and responsibility! I am honored and humbled to represent teachers who are dedicated to providing rich learning opportunities for students and grateful for the numerous educators who have influenced me through the years. Armed with courage and confidence, I look forward to working with business and educational leaders to advance STEM education. I am confident that joining others to move ideas to action will help remove learning barriers and will increase student achievement.

Angela Snyder Carmel, IN | 7-12, Mathematics, 2019

Angela Snyder has been at Creekside Middle School for 11 years, where she is currently a teacher and Department Chair. Being an educator for over 30 years in three states, Angela has taught at Clinton, Berry, Carmel, and Lafayette Jeff High Schools. She has served as an administrator at Carmel Middle School and Carroll Junior-Senior High School. While teaching her eighth grade Geometry and Math 8 students, Angela uses a variety of strategies to help students make meaning of concepts and develop confidence in their abilities. A student-centered approach has been Angela’s driving force through the years. Students in her classroom typically work collaboratively to solve problems while perfecting skills. Angela has been honored with the Sliffe Award, Math MovesU Award, the Indiana University Armstrong Teacher Award, and participation in the Indiana principal leadership institute. Although she is grateful for awards and professional development opportunities, the way Angela’s students and colleagues challenge her to pursue her passion of lifelong learning is the most impactful. Implementing ideas and bringing honor to the group considered for an award she receives are high priorities for Angela. Angels serves as president of the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics and on state STEM leadership teams. Her writing and speaking topics span from effective learning environments to school improvement efforts. Angela earned a B.S. in mathematics from Mississippi College and a M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has completed educational leadership studies at Indiana State University. Angela is certified in mathematics for grades 5–12 and holds an Indiana building level administrator license.
